It is said of Rabbi Barukh of Mezhibuzh that one of his sons, who was playing hide-and-seek, came running towards him with tears in the eyes, telling that his friends had suddenly left him alone in the middle of the game, while he kept waiting and waiting. Rabbi Barukh deduced from this how God feels when we stop the sacred game of hide-and-seek, be it because of the hopelessness of not finding him or due to the lack of interest to keep looking for him.
